£30k of service charge arrears recovered in one week

The service charge specialists at Brady Solicitors have had a record week for one large managing agent, recovering over £30,000 of arrears in just one week.

Our client, a large managing agent, had previously used a local, non-specialist law firm to recover outstanding service charge arrears, but the arrears collection was either painfully slow or in some cases, abandoned completely.

The service charge arrears were getting out of control so they turned to Brady Solicitors.

They needed a property management specialist to help them as the increasing arrears were having a big impact on cash flow and they were concerned it would start to interfere with their block management.

Head of Bradys’ service charge team, James Wren, has been working with the client over the last six months to reduce their service charge arrears and bring all outstanding arrears up to date. This included the successful recovery of £30,000 in one week – a very pleasing result for the client.

Building an ongoing relationship

As part of our ongoing drive to deliver an excellent service to our clients, Brady Solicitors’ client liaison manager, Caroline Lee, worked with the client to fully understand their requirements and concerns going forward. We received good feedback from the managing agent, who was particularly impressed with the detailed weekly reports we produced, which allowed them to keep track of the progress of their cases.

We are now helping them to stay on top of their service charge debts by tightening their credit control procedures and improving software systems as well as advising on Right to Manage.
